Statement of Faith:
The fundamental teachings of this Congregation are reflected in the following clear statements of faith:
1. Scriptures: We believe the Bible in its entirety is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is the infallible and authoritative revelation of God to Mankind. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:19-21, 1 Pet. 1:23-25, Heb. 4:12)
2. God: We believe there is only one true, eternal God revealed in three separate persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1,26, Deut. 6:4, Isa. 43:10-11, Mt. 28:19, 3:16, John 14,15,16,17)
3. Divinity & Humanity of Jesus: We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ and that He is the only begotten Son of God. We believe He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life as He walked among men, demonstrated the authority and power of God in works and speech and sacrificially died on the cross to save us from our sins, His resurrection on the third day and ascension to heaven where He is now seated at the right hand of God, interceding for the saints, having accomplished all that is necessary for man’s redemption/salvation. (Mt. 1:21-23, John 1:1-2,14, 3:16, 4:16, Acts 1:2-3,9, 2:22-36, Romans 8:34, Luke 1:26-38, Phil. 2:5-12, 1 Tim. 3:16)
4. Second Coming: We believe in the personal, imminent and visible, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ and that those who have believed in Him will be resurrected in an incorruptible body. (Acts 1:11, 1 Thess. 4:16-18, Titus 2:13, 1 Corinthians 15:35-58, Philippians 3:21)
5. Salvation: We believe in the sinfulness of all mankind and the need of salvation, available only through the blood of Jesus Christ to all who believe and receive Him as Savior and Lord. We believe it is essential for man to repent of sin and by faith receive the finished work of Christ. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation, resulting in regeneration by the Holy Spirit. We then have His imputed righteousness and are a new creation in Christ Jesus, a child of God. Each person must believe for himself, be baptized for himself, obey for himself, and answer to his Savior for himself. (Rom. 3:22-28, 5:1-11, 6:23, 10:9-10,13, Eph. 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-7, Acts 3:19, 2 Peter 3:9) (Acts 4:12; Romans 4:1-9, Eph. 1:6-7, Col. 1:12-14)(Rom. 14:12, 1 Peter 4:5, John 3:5-6,16, Rom.10:9-10,13, 2 Corinthians 5:17,21)John 8:14-17, Galatians 4:4-7
6. Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit to be the third person of the Trinity; whose purpose in the redemption of man is to regenerate the repentant believer(Titus 3:4-7), convict men of sin, guide the believer into ALL truth, comfort the believer, help us in and teach us all things, bring to our remembrance all things that the Lord has said, and show us things to come(John 14,15,16), make known the things that are freely given to us of God(1 Cor. 2:12), indwell and give gifts to believers as He wills that they may minister as Christ would to men. We believe that the Manifestation of the Holy Spirit, recorded in, 1Corinthians12:8-11, shall operate in the present day churches which yield to the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 11:13; John 7:37-39; Acts 2:37-39). We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of Speaking in Tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (1 Cor. 14), is for all believers subsequent to salvation as promised by John the Baptist (Matt. 3:11) and Jesus (Acts 1:4-8); was witnessed by the early disciples of Christ; (Acts 2:4; 8:4-17, 10:44-47; 19:1-6) and is evidenced by many present day disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
7. Local Church: We believe the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a body of believers who have been baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; who are recognized, delegated authorities; and who assemble to worship, carry forth the Great Commission, and minister as the Holy Ghost leads ( Acts 2:40-47; Eph 1:22-23,5:22-32; 1 Tim. 3:15).We believe that there is one true universal Church, made up of genuine believers, but this one universal Church is also composed of many local Churches in given localities. These Churches are under the sovereign Headship of the Lord Jesus Christ, exercising autonomous government under Him, administering all its local affairs and ministry, as well as the propagation of the Gospel (Acts 15:22; Matthew 16:18-19; 18:15-20).
8. Ordinances: We believe that the two ordinances of the Church are Water Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Water Baptism: Immersion in water in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, (Matt 3:15-16; 28:19-20; Acts 2:41, 8:12, 8:36-38, 9:17-18, 10:44-47) a symbol of identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper: A remembrance of the Lord for His body which was broken for us and of the new covenant in His blood. A memorial of the death, resurrection, and the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matt. 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-24, Luke 22:13-20, 1 Cor. 11:23-26)
9. Sanctification: We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life. Justification (salvation) is by grace through faith only, period! But sanctification is the process of being separated from sin and dedicated to God, which begins at salvation and continues throughout the lifetime of the believer. We believe that believers should seek, as the early disciples did, to practice the separated life from the world and unto Christ Jesus and to set standards of conduct which shall exalt our Lord and His Church. This is the witness of expressing the true Christian faith. (Rom. 6:19,22, 12:1-3, 1 Cor.6:19-20, 2 Cor. 6:14-18, Gal. 5:22-23, 6:14, Eph.2:1-10, 5:11 Phil. 2:12, 1 Tim. 5:22, 1 Thess. 4:3-8, 5:22, Titus 2:11-12, 1 Peter 4:1-2)
10. Great Commission: We believe in the responsibility of every believer to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Mt. 28:19-20, Mk. 16:15-20, Acts 1:8)
11. Divine Healing: We believe that God has used doctors, medicines, and other material means for healing: but Divine Healing was also provided for in the atonement (Is. 53:5, Matt. 8:17, 1 Peter 2:24) and may be appropriated by the laying on of hands by the elders (James 5:14-16), laying on of hands by the believers (Mark 16:18), by the prayer of an anointed person gifted for healing the sick. (1 Cor. 12:9) or by direct act of receiving this provision by Faith (Mark 1:40-41, 5:34, 10:52, 11:23-24, 9:23, Matt. 9:28-29, 3 John 1:2).
12. Believer’s Priesthood: We believe that each believer is a priest of the Lord (1 Peter 2:5, 9, Rev. 1:6, 5:9, 20:6) and has direct access to the Father through the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ Who is the only mediator between God and man. (John 14:6,13-14, 15:16, 16:23-24,26, Rom. 8:26,34, Ephesians 2:18,1 Tim. 2:5)
13. Marriage: We believe that marriage has been ordained by God. This church defines “marriage” as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment before God and man. A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by the church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in these Articles. We believe that marriage is exclusively the legal union of one genetic male and one genetic female and that this union is evidenced by a marriage ceremony. We also believe that legitimate biblical sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities such as, but not limited to, adultery, fornication, pre-marital sex, incest, polygamy, homosexuality, transgenderism, bisexuality, cross-dressing, pedophilia, etc…are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church. Further, lascivious behavior, the creation, viewing and/or distribution of pornography and efforts to alter one’s physical gender or gender related appearance are incompatible with a true biblical witness. We believe in the creation and God as the Creator. We believe that God created man and that He created them male and female. As such He created them different so as to complement and complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason homosexuality, and all other “sexual preferences” or “orientations” are unnatural, sinful, and unacceptable to God. Accordingly, no pastor, elder, officer, employee, servant, agent, or any person, corporation, organization, or entity under the direction or control of this church will perform any marriage ceremonies between two individuals of the same sex. This church specifically prohibits acts or omissions including but not limited to permitting any church assets or property, whether real property, personal property, intangible property, or any property or asset of any kind that is subject to the direction or control of the church, to be used in any manner that would be or could be perceived by any person to be inconsistent with this church’s Articles. It will not condone or recognize such same-sex marriages, civil unions, or domestic partnerships even if the state or federal government passes laws that provide for recognition of such unions. (Genesis 2:24; Matt.19:5, Mark 10:5-9, Eph.5:22-33, I Corinthians 5:11; 6:9-11; 6:18-20; 7:1-3; 7:8-9; Romans 1:18-32, I Tim.9-10)
14. Sanctity of Life: WE BELIEVE in the unique creation of man in the image and likeness of God and that physical life is His sovereign gift. We believe that life begins at conception and that God values all life and has a plan and purpose for every person’s life, including unborn life. We believe that the deliberate killing of the unborn, the sick, disabled or elderly is an abomination before Him. (Genesis 1:27, 2:7, 21:1-2, 25:21; Jer.1:5, Psalms 139:13, 16, Luke 1:30-31, 39-44, Matt.1:20)
15. Heaven and Hell: We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved. We believe the Scriptures clearly set forth the doctrines of eternal punishment for the lost and eternal life, blessings and service for the saved. (Acts 24:15, 1 Cor.15:12-58, Rev.20:4-6, 11-15, Matt. 25:31-46, 7:13-14,21-23, Luke 16:19-31)
